Laptop stuff:

I have a DELL Inspiron. It has:
1024 * 768 display
A place to put either a second battery or floppy|CD|DVD drive
A touchpad instead of the 'goofy pointing knob in the keys'

I don't know if it is tough. Dell specifies the system will withstand vibration at 0.8 GRMS while operating, which is typical of traveling by air, and 1.3 GRMS while stored with the disk head parked, which is typical of traveling by truck.

For shock, the system is rated at 60"/sec operating and 80"/sec with the disk head parked.

I don't really know what these numbers mean and I don't want to find out the hard way.

Hope this helps, PW.
