I guess my take on this would be to say you are fortunate to get 44k on the laptop. From what I have read most folks don't get close to the 53k max on POTS lines. I certainly would not go thru the hassle of returning the machine and buying a different one for the speed difference you are seeing. What if you buy another machine and it is slower???
