To Michael and other pros on this thread:

a general question on how brokerages work.

Do brokerages have different classes of clients?

If yes, is it based on $$$ or trading volume or number of trades or broker is brother-in-law?

If yes, what are the privileges or benefits of the higher class clients? Could it be IPOs, lower commissions, special phone numbers, priority execution, etc?

Regarding IPOs, how do discount brokers get their hands on shares from the underwriters?

Thanks in advance.

Ramsey
