gold,
All the propaganda about the evil Serbs just reminds me how we used to call the Vietnamese "Godless Communists" that were "impervious" to human suffering. Of course, that was the just- ifacation we needed to start bombing Hanoi. Ya got to make your enemy inhuman before you kill them otherwise it doesn't sound right. Probably those "mass graves" are where they are putting the bodies of the KLA soldiers and sypathizers that the JNA has killed in the war. The US is estimated to have killed over 1 million Vietnamese from 1965 to 1975 in order to save them from the evils of Communism. Something I find unfortunate is that this whole warfare thing is turning more and more upon civilians as targets. Every war in this century has had a greater percentage of civilian casualties than the last. Finally, it appeared that "smart weapons" had reduced this trend during the Gulf War, in that the great majority of casualties were military, not civilian. However, the subsequent economic sanctions and collateral damage actually resulted in about 1 million deaths of Iraqi civilians due to damage to water treatment plants, lack of food, medicine, and sewage treatment. It seems that the Gulf War still resulted in about 10 times as many civilians being killed as military personnel. This trend is not changing. It seems that more and more, war is a problem for the non combatants, not just the military. So much for "smart weapons".
