Munich, April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Siemens AG is seeking ''a number'' more of U.S. acquisitions as it seeks to strengthen its business for data-telecommunications, which involves technology for directing data over the Internet, Barron's reported, citing Chief Executive Heinrich von Pierer. Siemens, Germany's largest electronics and engineering company, could be on the verge of a turnaround, as focuses on trimming some of its traditional businesses and aggressively entering the high-growth market for Internet hardware and services. Some analysts say that Siemens is preparing for as many as 24,000 job cuts in Germany, though von Pierer said such a massive reduction ''is impossible,'' Barron's reported.

Since last month, Siemens has spent about $1 billion on acquisitions of U.S. Internet-equipment companies.
