Stuart, organizing an investor's watchdog group is noble and wise. I can't be the one to do it, but I encourage it strongly. I am confident the SEC reads our thread. . . . so hopefully, they are taking a STRONG note at the number of investors claiming they lost money on Wednesday, due to inability to trade online, or reach their brokers by phone. . . and especially noting the high number of brokerage names that were all down at the same time.

It is an outrage. It is criminal. It will no doubt be investigated.
Every person that has been unable to reach their broker or make an online trade gets what he/she deserves by staying loyal to them. If you took your car to be washed and paid them 15 bucks, but they did not sweep the inside or clean the tires or scrub the mud off the fenders, would you go back over and over and over again?

Of course not. The best move is to immediately find a few new brokers . . and rate them only on reliability. Commission should hardly be considered.

If we all did this, the ads on CNBC would not focus on price. . .but rather reliability.
