I've not been earning a living steadily most of the last 13 years. Just basically unable. Unemployable. (Physically. Mostly.) But I've almost always worked for myself anyway. I have a specialized wholesale distribution business and tiny real estate investments. Of the last two years, the market has been my attempt to earn, as I can do it in any conscious condition, more or less. It would not be my choice.

And, as we know, even an exalted consciousness has no relation to success in this here market.

I'm 45. Live in a small town in Oregon. Spouse is a schoolteacher.

I need to do some stuff, but speaking of people, lemme say this cool thing before I go back to work.

There have been a dozen times in the last 13 years that we've thought I was going to die. After a while, I said to my spouse, "It would be a lot easier if I died." [This is true.] [I was not thinking too clearly about her, about what she would do, then.]

I said, "And then you could live with someone who can help and take care of you."

She said, "I don't want someone. I want you."

I don't think I'd ever heard anything like that before.
