ed: MSFT did not need to own the box maker in the case of the PC; in fact that was their strength. If they were to buy the Palm Pilot division they would find themselves in the same boat as Apple. No they just have to see to it that CE has the best synchronization to the PC and is further supported by a wide array of applications. JFD
