"Contrary to popular belief, Internet appliances will not replace PCs, but in many cases will provide different services than PCs;.."

My view is that the PC will evolve to be the inhouse server, connecting, distributing and condensing data to and from a variety of pda type, and mechanical systems appliances.

In this role it may no longer, in my opinion, even require a primary monitor or even a keyboard relying on expanded HDTV for viewing data/entertainment.. and voice entry/response to replace or initially supplement the keyboard.

Generally speaking, the proportion of data received versus the amount of data output by each of us is going up.. our responses are being funneled more and more into yes/no boxes like questionaires. This is the downside of computerization.
