Joan,

Fed has no criteria....OR CONCERN....for the "fair value" of a stock. Greenspan would eradicate Intc (or any other company) to accomplish goal of low inflation.

His concern is the inflationary "Wealth Effect," i.e., people making too much money....in the stock market. Its not the value of the stock...its people enjoying (consuming) their gains.

If all investors would promise to reinvest their stock market gains....he would be delighted. Same result if Congress would reduce capital gains tax to zero.

The Message: don't buy that new Cadillac....walk to the bank!...& buy more Intc.

IMHO....Alan has given us two warnings. Next step....higher interest rates....unless

TRADERS....MAKE ALAN HAPPY....& DRIVE IT DOWN A BIT. (Then stand back!!!....the markets will prevail.)

PS: I'm a new contributor. What is :-)?
