Secretariat actually had to be destroyed. He developed a not uncommon hoof disease for which vets attempted to treat him for over two years....and then the inevitable. Very sad to us here in Central Kentucky. And Michelle, Ruffian, was one of the great racing mares. That was a much publicized race between she and the great "guy horse" whose name escapes me now, in which she went down and had to be destroyed. She sure was a beautiful and gifted animal. We go to the track a lot around here. Keeneland and Churchill....Churchill's the very best. I've seen a lot of horse racing over the years.
