Good post, Harold.

Does anyone remember the role / impact Bob Finocchio had when he was with 3COM? He has since (1997) left and gone to Informix, where he's been doing a rather good job of stabilizing and saving that company.

Could much of 3COM's earlier success really be the role that Bob F. played and have nothing to do with Benhamou?

What still really bothers me is how Benhamou and other insiders sold like mad back when the stock was at 40 - 50. I could maybe understand this kind of behavour if the stock was at an all time high, but 40 lower from an all time high (80-90) and this kind of selling is absolutely inappropriate for a $6 billion / year company that hasn't given its shareholders sustained value in the last 4 years.

I don't think the institutional investors were at all impressed and the insider selling is, in my opinion, what helped scare the analysts and mutual fund managers right out of the stock, and thus the unloading (and price drop) we've seen the last 2 months.

I'd say for that kind of behaviour, Benhamou and the others should be looking for the exit.

Cheers!
Ed.
