You leave a few key points out of your ridiculous "Mexican-American" analogy, my friend. The Mexican-Americans you describe have never terrorized, bombed, raped and murdered their non-Hispanic neighbors. The common thread, that we are all Americans first, has never been broken. Show me one Hispanic who has said, "I am a Mexican, or Guatemalan first, and an American second". Show me one!
No where along the line have the Mexican-Americans ever suggested that the country of Mexico (or El Salvador, or whatever) could better serve their needs in Southern California. That they want the Mexican President to run Los Angeles for them. No where have they ever seriously suggested that there is a "they" who would overthrow the US Government in the US Southwest.
