Rosen is not at all the "old man" you portray - he has been reported to have been on campus at CPQ and working the management team daily since mid-february, and an apparently well-connected CPQ source (she_x on the yahoo thread) said that it was Rosen who forced the pre-announcement. Take a look at what happened in 1991 when Rod Cannion made the same mistake as Pfeiffer. Then take a look at what happened to CPQ share price and growth after that. This is great news for CPQ shareholders. There is nothing particularly positive for DELL in this chain of events. Rosen is decisive and fiercely competitive. I believe he is also the largest CPQ shareholder and one of CPQ's founders.
