Hi. I've run into slow defragging sometimes when the drive really doesn't need defragging. It seems to get into a very slow-advancing loop. When the drive is more fragmented -- say 1 or 2%, it has less trouble. Never anything like nine hours, though.

Perhaps your drive is almost full?
