Turn off your screen saver, close all programs and run disk scan first to repair any bad sectors. I seem to recall someone saying that disk scan ran for hours. Was this you. If so, I don't know what else to try.
If you get a message during the scan that says it has restarted x number of times, click om the option that says continue without nay further warnings.
