I think I understand the "Let's not talk about it" position. Sometimes things are so awful they really are too upsetting to contemplate. I read a story in our paper about a young teenage runaway beaten and tortured and killed by a group of kids. Now this upset me more than I can say. I don't know what I gained by reading about it. It made me so sad I really cannot articulate it. I think that is what he means. But maybe not- I am just guessing and empathizing.
