Elwood: There is not enough information to be able to guage market-reaction. I fear a dip, I hope it won't be much, or of long duration. I have the general impression that stocks sometimes rise after an announcement like this, but nervousness about earnings might get in the way. But I have seen enough comment on several threads tonight to the effect that this will be good for the stock, that perhaps opinion will be neutral or positive. It does not look like the kind of black prospect after a pre-announcement.
I hope that whatever happens tomorrow that earnings will be the beginning of a recovery, if forward guidance is positive. Since it will be Rosen giving it - I think it will have more credibility than if EP gave it.
Tomorrow, the headlines will produce the generally negative knee-jerk reaction we have already heard on this thread namely, there must be something terribly wrong. Rosen's first test is to ensure that the content of his telephone interview gets to the opinion makers tonight and tomorrow. A TV appearnce before market might help.
The professionals will already know about it, they will already be assimilating Rosen comments. What will they make of it? Some may decide to play a dip. Retailers - I don't know - I probably have more faith in Amercan moms and pops - won't they basically say - good, the company is being decisive. Surely they won't take a loss and run.
I'm already gettign a grip of Rosen's style, I should be able to put together a script of his typical interview pretty soon.
BTW I can do without this. And, this is the last evening you can bellyache about the twins. |
