A few other figures from the conference call

They didn't anticipate the $17 million decline in Europe and Japan.

They had a $78 million positive cash flow.

They plan some firewall service integrated with NDS, virtual private networks, proxy caching, a Jefferson Beta in April, and automated app distribution in Managewise.

This was a flat quarter with the same fundamental problems still in place. The company really needs to be sold. If the large institutional investors don't start putting pressure on the BOD to do just that then they can just write off their entire investment in Novell.

I think the cost of taking over the company is greatly reduced. If I were IBM, I'd go for it. Merging NDS in the enterprise with NT in the Department is something IBM could do, that Novell cannot do. It would make sense for IBM because otherwise they will eventually have to surrender software control in the enterprise to MSFT. They could sell Groupwise and I'm sure they would like that Silicon Valley real estate.
