TLC,
Looks like Danny is learning a lesson in BB Investing 101 over on the ABFG thread. Some of the posters aren't giving him the kid glove treatment.
Dan, if someone should point you over to this thread, I hope you'll read some of the posts here.
Dan is learning the hard way that when dealing with OTC-BB companies, the product or the service doesn't mean diddley-squat. It's the people behind the stock that counts. Management, executives, officers, whatever label you want to give them; that's what and who you're investing in when you buy on the OTC-BB. That's why you skip the company press releases in favor of researching the CEO or the President or whoever...
Look closely at the PR/IR firm (if any). Have they been involved with people (or companies) of dubious character in the past? If so, move on... Quickly... This is one game where the leopard almost never changes his spots... And the old dog doesn't want to learn new tricks. Why should they? It's more profitable to scam...
Look at the company press releases. Are the promises direct and forthright? Usually not, as PR/IR guys like to mask that type of information in vague semantics. Is the press release mostly hype? Does the press release tend to steer the potential investor away from any negatives and accentuate vague or referenced positives? Are the positives mostly in the future? Do the press releases mention the names of other companies, particularly large, well-known companies?
Lastly, think long and hard about the product or service. If it's a product, why isn't Hypothetical Big Company interested? If the product is really truly good, why isn't Hypothetical Big Company buying out the patent or the product? If it's a service, how easy is it for Hypothetical Big Company to replicate the service and compete the BB company out of business?
And Dan, one last lesson for you (if you happen to lurk on by). Have you looked at who's "supporting" you recently? Have you noticed the preponderance of new aliases on SI (people that have joined since December) that seem to have to jumped on your wagon (and for that matter, Phatt Matt's wagon also)? Have you noticed that the stocks they suggest are perhaps a bit suspect? Do you know that the Vancouver "refugees" like the idea of waving carrots under the noses of a couple of inexperienced young men with a bunch of followers, such as you and Matt? Have you ever considered the possibility that you're being manipulated? You'd better think about these things, because I see it happening right now.
