You're right of course. I was making a facetious comment to those on this thread who refuse to acknowledge that the Serbs, especially their leadership, bear the brunt of the blame for instigating the hostilities of the last decade in the Balkans.

You're preaching to the choir when it comes to U.N. involvement. I was involved in two such U.N. operations. I can never think of those experiences without the word 'clusterfuck' coming to mind. The best that can be said about any U.N. "peacekeeping" force is that they are like a boxing referee who has been paid off to ensure that the right fighter wins. The worst that can be said is that they've actively promoted genocide in some cases by offering "protection" to some populations, gathering the populations under their aegis, and then turning their backs while the death squads of the opposing side go about their business. A prime example of this would be the genocide of Bosnian Muslims carried out while they were under the "protection" of the forces of U.N. General Satish Nambiar. I was given orders to participate in another tour of duty under the auspices of the U.N. in Somalia. Rather than accept these orders, I retired from the military.

NATO did the right thing by doing an end run on the U.N. when they initiated their strikes against the Serbs. One more year of business as usual, with the U.N. in charge of operations and there wouldn't have been any Kosovars to save.
