Iridium seems in so much trouble it's not funny. Now using pagers to get people to run outside to take a call! The theory of rich, stupid, snob value, businessmen seems to have been ditched completely.
Let's hope ICO is looking and thinking!
Anyone who owns or is thinking of owning ICO should check the foundations of the investment and prospective competition from Globalstar very, very carefully. It is turning into an all out competitive war in the LEO and MEO business. Minutes will be cheap. The cost of supplying a minute is near zero and there are billions and billions and billions of them right now circling the globe, eating capital and getting no revenue at all, going to waste forever, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month...well, you get the picture.
So, just who are the millions of customers which ICO thinks they'll get to justify another $4bn in space?
They should hire some business advisors who have no vested interest from a job or national pride point of view and see how they'll make money, or, in my opinion, lose it. Then cancel their system.
