Why do they announce so many wins at the same time? C-Cube Powers Avid, Matrox,Pinnacle, FAST and Accom Video Editing Systems April 19, 1999 08:21 AM LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--C-Cube Microsystems CUBE announced today that five leading video production board and system manufacturers have selected C-Cube's DVxpress architecture to power a new category of all-digital, standards-based video editing solutions.
Avid Technology AVID , Matrox Electronic Systems, Ltd., Pinnacle Systems PCLE , FAST Multimedia, and Accom ACMM will leverage C-Cube's innovation in advanced editing capabilities including FAME(TM) (Frame Accurate MPEG Editing), DV to MPEG transcoding, co-existence of DV and MPEG in a single system, dual stream decoding of MPEG and/or DV video streams as well as the application of realtime special effects.
"C-Cube is fundamentally changing the video production market," said Fermi Wang, general manager of C-Cube's PC/Codec Division. "Our goal is to enable the industry to shift to video editing in an all digital standards-based domain for better efficiency and video quality. Our DVxpress architecture is scaleable and programmable, which allows it to support future applications as they evolve. We're proud of our design wins and look forward to building on this leadership position in the video production market."
Broadcasters, post-production facilities, corporate video producers, multimedia content creators and project studios gain higher speed and image quality at lower overall system cost. They also benefit from standards-based editing, allowing them to work with files created on other systems, acquire video from any DV camera, author to DVD or transmit to satellite.

About DVxpress-MX
DVxpress-MX is the first single-chip, multi-format (MPEG and DV) codec that provides an all-digital, seamless bridge for the transfer of video content from acquisition to editing to distribution for non-linear editing and video distribution applications. This capability is a critical enabler of the market shift from proprietary JPEG-based solutions to standards-based, all-digital solutions.
The codec's dual stream decoding capability allows any two streams of DV and/or MPEG-2 video to be spliced and edited side-by-side with time-code driven frame accuracy. DVxpress-MX also offers a full spectrum of special effects that may be applied and viewed in realtime.
The codec offers prosumer and professional video editors the industry's most advanced production capabilities, highest image quality and lowest overhead costs for content creation.
