Customers Can Check If System Is Windows 2000-Ready With Dell's Readiness Advisor
ROUND ROCK, Texas, April 19, 1999 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL), the world's leading direct computer systems company, today announced plans to factory install the beta 3 version of Microsoft's Windows® 2000 operating system on select models of its PowerEdge® servers, Dell Precision™ WorkStations, OptiPlex® business desktops and Latitude® notebook PCs. Dell expects to begin taking a limited number of orders in late May for the factory installation, with delivery expected in June. Dell also announced the Windows 2000 Readiness Advisor, a Web-based tool that helps customers determine if their Dell system is properly configured to run Windows 2000.
"Dell is offering Windows 2000 beta 3 to corporate customers who are ready to begin testing their business software prior to its full roll-out," said Carl Everett, senior vice president and general manager of Dell's Personal Systems Group. "We are among the first to market with this program because our business customers have overwhelmingly told us they want to get started in their testing of and migration to Windows 2000." .......
