I suspicion we are seeing the "snowball effect." I'm rather new at this but if I've been fighting off the urge to lighten up on my long AOL shares since it started its rapid decline, I'm sure there is a lot of novice traders out there who are running for the door, and a lot more on the side who were "trapped" by the sudden fall who will lighten their holdings when the stock rebounds. I know I'VE decided it's not intelligent for me to have most of my eggs in one basket---even though I believe in AOL this "event" is extremely stressful. I'm irritated at myself that I did not anticipate that money would flow from the tech sectors to non-tech sectors at the first sign the world ecomony was improving. Oh well.
