The number one impediment to sales for Apple are the "advisors" at most computer stores, imnsho.

Apple should drop Best Buy (the worst of the worst) and go whole hog with Sams and Costco--
iMacs and accessories, and SOFTWARE.

I disagree here. Apple should build into its cost structure a modest SPIFF payment to sales people. These mass merchandisers do not always pay commission on sales. The low paid sales people seek out the SPIFF promos and then push those products to up their incomes.

Right now, the Wintel world is awash in narrow margins and would not be able to respond in kind with any strength. A $25 SPIFF on iMacs and a $40 SPIFF on G3 Blues with monitor bundled would be well worth its effect on margin. It would generate volume sales at these retailers and increase the number of sales to potential Wintel buyers.
