To All: thank you for that warm welcome! I hope I can provide some valuable input.

RE: AT&T buyout, I firmly believe that AT&T have their hands full trying to get the Co headed in the right direction for the turn of the century. They are playing catch up in the local market and are loosing market share fast in the L.D. business. Since Walter took over they are reevaluating what their five year plan is going to be and just how to attack the local market. There is an article in this weeks Business Week re this which you can read in Personal finance. It basically describes how Walter (the new Pres) is rethinking Allen's idea of reselling the Baby Bells network and is reviewing alternative carriers to handle this. This could be one reason why we have not seen an announcement yet. The article also clearly states use of alternative carriers is important because they can't do everything at once nor could they finance it all. I am of the firm belief that WCII will someday be bought up by a much larger carrier and it may very well be AT&T but it could be any one of the larger carriers. There are indeed enough shares and options held by insiders to reject this right now and mgt knows they are sitting on a cash cow which starts giving milk in a big way in a couple of years.

Re: Teegir's note, I did put in 10 Ghz by mistake. Regardless, the 1.9 Ghz PCS which the AT&T system will be connected to as well as 18 and 28 Ghz systems are point to multi point systems that cannot carry bulk voice, data and video at high speeds that the 38 Ghz wireless fiber can. These lower frequency systems will need to be connected to main switches that will then be connected to other local or L.D. sytems. The present day technology is to connect the pcs systems with the local and L.D. systems via use of Baby Bell lines which AT&T and others are trying to avoid. Hence the use of 38 Ghz and WCII. So there is a definite need for WCII in this system.
:
In summary, WCII is not in the residential business with it's wireless fiber. The AT&T system is a 2 line system only. 38 Ghz can carry 28 T-1's at 24 lines per T-1 or 600+ lines. The next generation transmitter is in the works which will carry 84 T-1s or some 1900 lines. These are two distinctively different sytems for two different markets and the two Co's will not compete with each other.
:
It is important to not get caught up in this aspect of the local market because this is not the market WCII is going after. They are attacking the small to med Business market with much higher capacity requirements. Initially there target market is the 17.7 bil market where no others will go due to feasibility reasons but I'm sure they will expand from there. However, I wouldn't put it past the two co's to sign some sort of recprical agreement allowing WCII to namebrand and resell AT&T's PCS and other services while AT&T can namebrand and resell WCII's local wireless business. After all the two systems will probably be talking to each other on a daily basis anyway. This type of venture could only benefit both Co's.

Re: Market conditions today it was healthy for the stock to pull back some after a 37% run up to get the traders out of the way and establish a support level. The stock closed up at the end after dipping to 13.125 which is a good sign.
:
Don't let the AT&T cloud or confuse your understanding of the Co's long term goals!
:
Let's hope for another good Winstar Friday!
:
See Ya!
