i am in the same barrel as your poor saps. however, at the urging of net friend i have opened an account with national discount broker (www.ndb.com).
the letter below is what i just knocked out to Etrade. can you imagine, they can't take care of existing customers and here they are out soliciting more accounts by offering a $50 bonus just for opening an account with $1,000.
now you think service is bad now, where do you think it is going when they lure fools like ourselves in with a $50 bonus???????
last week on the 13th i called etrade... wanted to open a 98 ira. guy said i am too late, even though they would have had 2 days to process it after i overnighted..... well my friend urged me to contact national discount broker. can you imagine, i contacted them on 14 april and sent it out overnight... they had it the 15th, opened my account & on the 16 i placed an order. now this is service.
i guess instead of wasting my time writing to Ms Levinson, President and CEO, i should be writing the sec.

Unfortunately, I am already an E*Trade customer. Instead of trying to attract more users, why don't you take care of the ones you already have????
Here I am an account holder for several years. I call in on the 13th and inquire about setting up a 1998 IRA. Your guy on the phone said it was too late. Well, I did an overnight to National Discount Broker on the 14th. They received it on the 15th and opened up my account. Now that is service.
