WillP, I have the answer.

I do wonder about who would be allowed to "look", however

An airline pilot flying over at 25,000 feet saw them glittering up at him. He put in a SOS call thinking it was someone in need of help, but RT had already informed search and rescue to expect such a sparkling problem, based on statistical reports of likely diamond recoveries by WillP and George Tromp (before his recent depression). Pilot told me his sunglasses where unable to shield his eyes from the intense glare, and several passengers were temporarily blinded.
