Herbie....Final Cut appears to be positioned in the sweet spot...midway between the Avid/Media 100 professional systems and the consumer systems on the lower end of the scale.

Dunno. Most pro systems do. You digitize the material from its source...onto a (usually external) hard drive...then do your editing. I'm very interested in Final Cut...and have put off a pending purchase of a NLE system to see what it'll do. Down-loaded Apple's Quick Time movie on Final Cut this morning...but got no audio. Bummer.
