The point is the volume shipments of .25 micron processors in every package and voltage requirement will easily achive the 500 Mhz plus range. Once again the competition will be left with the scraps.

Factor in the graphics workstation technology that Intel and Lockheed Martin are jointly developing and it doesn't take any sort of genius to see who will continue to dominate the market. Combining powerful graphics technology with processors speeds at least double that of the competition will ensure Intel's continued and unwavering dominance of the PC business.

The competition hopes and prays they get a slice of the processor pie while Intel holds all of the cards. When the Pentium Pro with MMX becomes the low-end, throw-away product and Intel starts selling top-end PCs competitive with Silicon Graphics workstations then we will see what excuse the also-rans come up with.
