Agreed. Obviously, it would be classless to do anything of the sort (or even really comment) in any official way..
In the short-run, it can be nothing but a positive (if anything) for Compaq's competitors...I'm sure the sales force is jazzed (Dell's, that is...)..Regardless of the party line, it does add some doubt/confusion to the selection process (that is, if you are thinking on selecting Compaq)......surely, Compaq will lose at least a little momentum (but probably not a lot) as a result...
Also, despite what Rosen is saying, I doubt Compaq will be able to speed up decision-making/radically change things in the interim...that means CPQ is stuck (for a while, at least) with the same model that got them in this mess...
From what I gather, though, Rosen has a very good track record, and the "confusion time" will not last too long... |
