brees--- To my mind, it is less a matter of "liking to be the most powerful country", although I am not sure what is so wrong with liking to be successful, than it is a consequence of the fact. As I said on another thread, there is a certain ethics of emergencies, which obliges those who can intervene with a reasonable prospect of success, and not too exorbitant a risk, to do so. We are, in fact, the big kid on the block, and it is therefore harder to ignore the woes of others...
