Post from NigeStork of the MF board on AOL:

Subject: An Apple A Day...

The AMA (American Medical Association) has worked out a deal with PCSave.com to sell Apple's full line of computers at considerable discounts. Some of the deals, including iMac and new G3's offer big savings over some of the best mail-order and retail offers out there. This is great news for radiologists (they love these babies) and for small group/solo practitioners who are still waging the tough battle against managed care. Using resources
like Healtheon's (HLTH) internet based solutions for billing and collections, physicians now have a very affordable solution which keeps overhead much lower and allows them to steer clear of train-wreck corporate management outfits (check out MedPartners Inc recently filed bankruptcy). This gives them considerable clout that until now has been out of reach. Though this is not part of any master plan, it represents a very fortuitous convergence of
events for the Mac faithful in the medical community. Physicians have traditionally had a very cozy relationship with the Mac. Yet Apple has sadly neglected this market, IMHO, lately. Perhaps this will spark renewed interest and a more dynamic and active relationship on both sides, much like Apple has with small business and the law profession. Many small group and solo practices are small businesses. If Apple targets this group correctly,
with the right kind of marketing, the result could be very healthy for Apple's bottom line indeed.

Just my observations.
