Reports indicate that Sony Engineers were told by IOM Engineers that their drive implementation was faulty and the drive would never work. They were told to go home and start over, whereupon a senior Engineer from the Sony Data Storage division fell on his sword in the IOM cafeteria. When asked at a press conference what the worst part of the setback was Sony execs replied, "The worst part is having to keep Mr. Reid on the payroll until fall, that guy is such a weeniesan"
