Tuesday April 20, 9:02 am Eastern Time Company Press Release Franklin Tempest Expands to Europe E-1 Signaling Opens World Markets for Internet Data Voice Gateway WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1999-- Franklin Telecom (AMEX:FCM - news) Tuesday announced that its Tempest® System now supports international E-1 signaling. E-1 is the digital line interface that is used in most countries outside the United States.
Ron Weaver, Franklin's vice president of worldwide sales, stated, ''The E-1 interface means that Franklin can efficiently serve the rest of the worldwide market, i.e. Europe, Asia, Africa, plus South and Central America starting immediately.''
Sean Quine, Franklin's vice president of software development, added: ''A significant investment of time and engineering talent has been required to prepare our E-1 inferface because of the numerous variations of E-1 signaling from country to country. Fortunately, our card supports these many variations.
''Its versatility allows on-site configuring to accommodate the appropriate signaling. As a matter of fact, to the best of my knowledge, the Tempest System supports more countries than any other Internet gateway manufactured today.''
According to Franklin President Peter Buswell: ''With the addition of the E-1 line interface to our Tempest System, we truly provide global IP telephony solutions. We began installations in South and Central America about six weeks ago and the units are performing to specification.''
Buswell went on to say: ''The E-1 interface greatly broadens our market for the Tempest System. For example, we recently completed installation of a dedicated system between Washington D.C. and El Salvador. ''This is an example of how easily and inexpensively a company using the Tempest can establish a reliable, extremely cost-effective communication system from country to country, whether the need is to link only a couple of sites or many.'' |
