Thanks for the questions. Shorting and covering on downturns is an excellent idea. I should have thought of that, actually, but thanks! For the random selection, I have a little script that spits them out for me. The backup system for that is a pair of dice, with the numbers mapped to Dow stocks. The backup to the backup is a mug with 30 chits in it, with the each chit having one of the Dow components' ticker symbols on it.

Buying/selling the index I thought about, but chose not to do. Once I get in the habit of doing this every day, maybe I'll add a parallel method that buys/sells the S&P 500.
