Unisys Announces New Intelligent Speed Series Document Transports for Payment Processing
First-day installation at Milwaukee's Associated Bank
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999-- Unisys Corp. today announced the NDP2000 and NDP1600 document transports, the latest in the company's family of Network Document Processor (NDP) systems for payment processing.
The NDP2000, which processes 2000 documents per minute (dpm), and the 1600-dpm NDP1600 join the NDP1825 and NDP1150 in Unisys Intelligent Speed Series of NDP transports. Unisys also announced a first-day installation of the NDP2000 at Associated Bank, Milwaukee.
The NDP1600 and NDP2000, like the NDP1825, are ideally suited for high volume clearing and Proof-of-Deposit processing in commercial banks, central banks and service bureaus worldwide, as well as for processing checks, statements and remittances.
The entry level NDP1600 and the NDP1825 transports are field upgradable to 2000 dpm and 48 pockets to enable customers to start on a lower cost platform and upgrade as their volumes increase. An NDP2000 configured with 48 pockets has an effective document throughput similar to that of an IBM3890 and provides a superior price/performance ratio.
Unisys NDP transports significantly reduce the total cost of ownership by accommodating scalable configurations, industry-standard development tools and open connectivity. The Unisys unique Intelligent Speed Selection feature enables transport operators to select the most effective operational speed based on the type of work being processed to maximize the system's throughput.
Multimedia, Advanced Features and IBM 3890 Plug and Play
Unisys NDP transports provide operator video/audio help and training right on the transport. This enables operators to learn interactively how to use the transports, increase their efficiency and productivity and access Internet-based support and documentation.
The NDP1600 and NDP2000 provide all the features of the NDP1825, including advanced JPEG and CCITT dual image capture capabilities. In addition, they also offer an unrivaled range of features including image quality monitoring, Courtesy Amount and Intelligent Character Recognition, endorsement flexibility, OCR read and secondary document feed.
Unisys NDP transports also feature SortLogic, which enables Unisys transports to operate in an IBM host environment, providing plug-compatibility with the IBM-3890 document processors. This enables customers to have the benefits of new technology, more pockets and lower MICR reject rates at a lower cost.
Windows NT and CAPI
Unisys NDP transports employ the powerful Microsoft Windows NT operating environment and the Unisys Common Application Programming Interface (CAPI).
Unisys CAPI provides the full line of Unisys NDP transports with a common user interface that enables customers to easily cross train operators on multiple transport platforms. CAPI also provides a common application interface to a large variety of NT-based applications from Unisys and Unisys business partners.
First-day installations at Associated Bank
Associated Bank, of Milwaukee, is beginning to use an NDP2000 to help process the more than 875,000 checks that it receives daily.
