James, I didn't place much weight on that press release since it seems that SSA is in the dumps. However, there was another press release about PPG automotive glass, if my memory serves correctly. Unfortunately, neither of these releases say much about how sales are going this quarter. About the only news I have seen is that many of the analysts that follow this stock think that Manugistics will actually start making a profit in upcoming quarters.
I wish I knew more about the areas where Manugistics has better products than its competitors, like I2. From what I have read in the press, and people I talk to, Manugistics has been able to implement their solutions in a fairly short period of time to the satisfaction of their customers.
Now that speculation has been reduced about Manugistics being acquired by another firm, orders may start rolling in. In fact, according to the latest conference call, last quarter's orders all came in during the second half (not much happened in the first half because of buy-out speculation). Since orders appeared to be strong, this could be interpreted that demand for Manugistics's products are picking up. It would be great to see some announcements of major new clients, like UDV was announced a couple of months ago. Also, as long as I'm rambling, the conference call stated that Manugistics has three major Japanese clients--Japan's economy, although stagnant, is huge, and perhaps this will be an area of future growth. Ditto for Europe.
