Penni,
I acknowledge and thank you for what you did say yesterday. Maybe I've got my definitions tilted here, but to me a flame is when someone gets personal. I've been heads-up about not getting personal with anyone here, including Dan. Far as I know, he is an ok guy with war stories I could never hope to match, and nothing he's said so far would have me snorting disbelief. I would hope never to be so impolite as to cast aspersions on him. But I do take vocal issue with his ad hominem remarks.
One of my passions is stargazing. So I tend to keep running track of where the major planets are located. When I latched onto the navigational info involving an inner planet, I committed a tactical mistake by not taking it as a figure of speech. I dropped right into "Commander Data" mode and attemted to ratiocinate the tableau with completely literal intent, providing a disclaimer that I was making assumptions about climatic and met. contitions. Dan, I hope this helps as to your uncertainty about my motives. I was actually playing nice.
Now Penni if you can show me how I got personal with anyone in my previous post, I'll perk up my ears and give a full listen. Otherwise, I can't buy into your admonition that I was flaming the thread by expressing my bewilderment. I don't feel that Emily Post would have a problem with a heartfelt vocalization of sentiment. I guess what really gave me the slap was the "out of the blue, no warning, full phasers" quality of the thing.
Looks like my fifty minutes are up.
