You are EXACTLY right.

The companies that have done the best over the last several years on the internet growth are not the hardware vendors (BAY, CSCO, SUNW) who have been slugging it out. The service providers and mental capital companies have been the big winners. That is why AOL sold their network hardware business. The big winners have been DCLK, NTBK, GNET, AMTD, YHOO, etc.
