Thanks Sam and everyone for your input (or should I say - throughput? <g>)

Makes sense that data in a 5.25 platter's outer periphery is spinning faster than a 3.5 disc. But it seems that only the outer most data is spinning faster, so how would this equate? As an average?

Anyway, for two 5.25s, one with 20MB at 7200 RPM and the other with 25MB at 5400 (which costs more buying through Dell - side question - any opinion on buying Dell?), the tradeoff of more $$ (I think about $150) and 25% slower (1800/7200) RPM for another 5GB more has me leaning toward the 33% faster (1800/5400) 20MB. My thinking is if I need more storage at some point, I'll just add a second drive later.
