<<They are a fringe player>> So that's why Nokia signed that $70 million deal. If TDMA is fringe, IDC is a fringe player. AT&T still plans to use TDMA for its WLL project (project Angel) and is also a licensee of IDC. Of course, the market keeps waiting for this miracle AT&T WLL TDMA system (some of that TDMA IPR is purportedly licensed through IDC). BCDMA appears fringe at this moment, although it has achieved broader range transmission than WLL CDMA and faster speeds according to Samsung who employs both (this info comes from the Samsung manager in charge of deploying both WLL CDMA and BCDMA systems throughout Asia). Siemens and Alcatel also, although spectrum is an issue. IDC's new ASIC may help change that, at least for Alcatel.
