AMTX went up today for one reason, the shorts got out!

The speculation on some of the other Amati threads really surprise me.

The WSTL/MSFT news is not good for AMTX. The argument is that the ADSL attention of the news helped AMTX. Wrong. If so, WSTL would and should have also done better.

On Monday, 5/20/96, The CEO of Westell will be interviewed on CNBC. This will attract more attention to ADSL, but unless someone mentions AMATI by name, AMTX will fall apart on Monday (IMHO). Of couse this is all assuming that Amati does not counter with any positive news of its own.

AMTX will break 60 and probably 100 and maybe even higher but I think we can expect one more big correction next week.

On Friday afternoon the shorts got out. This allows them to sleep over the weekend. The price of the stock gets driven up by the covering of the short positions. Other people see the price rise and start thinking that there must be some secret news out there, so they jump on the wave. Others think the MSFT attention to ADSL is positive for Amati even though MSFT chose Westell to spend its programming resources on.

Sure, on Monday Netscape can make a similar announcement that it will develop software for Amati's technology that will be incorporated into its browser. But until that happens I believe we are looking at a major correction next week.

I have no idea what the software requirements are for ADSL technology. Perhaps someone can tell us about this aspect of ADSL.
