Dongsoo,

As I haven't followed your entire argument up to this point but I am assuming you are talking either specifically about the attack helo helmet display (which if so, please disregard the second half of the post) or about VRD replacing all current CRT and Flat-Panel LCDs.

Part 1 (Helo helmet specific)

Be aware that VRD is NOT YET a production ready system. If it is not ready by the time the helos are upgraded (or actually, the money is allocated by Congress), it doesn't matter if it is superior because the services will have to go with what is available. Be aware that the military is usually a decade behind in its technology use in many major procurement programs with long lead times because the designs must be approved through a maze of bureacracy of red tape.

Part 2 (All displays)

Before I attempt to bring you back to the realities of customer demand, envision the below scenario and ask yourself the question at the end.

Example 1
You are the manager of an airport terminal (department store, bank, etc.) and you would like to communicate information about your product to your customers without face-to-face communication. There exists a great new display technology that you use to interface with your computer at home called VRD. It's inexpensive, bright, portable and you can't ever imagine going back to your bulky flat plan LCD that weighs 15 lbs. Should you install it in your flight terminal so that individuals can check the arrival and departure of their flights?

...

If it were me, I'd have to say no. VRD is an innovative leap in PERSONAL display technology. Computer displays, however, are used for many different functions including MULTIUSER information dissemination.

Example 2
You are the IT manager at a major Fortune 500 company and have personally used the VRD and you love it at home. You have argued for seven months to replace the bulky CRT and flat panel LCD's and have finally received permission to move to VRD display headsets provided you can come up with a security plan for maintaining physical control of the headsets (CFO is worried that employees or building maintenance people will walk away with the VRD systems). What do you do?

..

Again, the more portable something is the more likely it is to walk away or get broken. These must be added into the costs of the system as well from a user standpoint. For some users, the security of the display is paramount over portability or weight.

As you can see from just these two examples, there are factors which will prevent VRD from just "conquering the world".
