Some would suggest that you are right - from a traditional market play perspective. My problem with the current market, however, is that traditional strategies are no longer valid. Today, most people are up to speed on traditional market plays like the one you are suggesting and pull the trigger early in an attempt to out think the Market.

For this reason, I think the selling in MSFT started early, long before this earnings announcement, and I therefor think the buying will start early, long before the release of Office 2000.

Writing covered calls is a tough move in this market.
