did you happen to catch the hot-swapping removable drive discussion, err.. more like lecture<g> with Spots from last week? Looks like the Dataports need shut down computer to be saftly removed...Bummer huh..

Lots of good info...I wasn't sure if an identical secondary drive fell through the crack. It does not seem to be a true hot swap. Also a ROMO is not a drive that has a lot of activity on it. I am not saying you should hot 'swap' it..but if there are no active programs..cache..or ? Does the Seagate backup program monitor the drive on a continuous basis or only at specific times?

One of these days I will get my new machine set up with the removables. I am making progress..I think. Actually I am not sure where I stand. When I installed the AOPEN board she wouldn't boot..so I thought. Turns out the monitor went belly up!! Strange that it happened right at a reboot (with the ABIT board right after exiting bios). Perhaps the ABIT board still works? I did get a couple of beeps but gave up..and opted for the new board.

I still get the 'unable to write to EBIOS' and 'Windows Protection Error' with the AOPEN when I change video settings. It is a puzzle..It seems I have swapped out almost everything..maybe RAM?

I no longer get the 'abnormal program halt' when I boot my DOS CAD program...well almost never..it happened once..
