>>Sega's next generation Dreamcast system will arrive in US stores on September 9, 1999, and be priced at US$199. 10-15 games will be available at the launch date, with 30 by Christmas.<<

Boy, talk about taking the ball and running blindly with it. There are just a few things wrong with the wild projections going on this thread:

biz.yahoo.com

1. A Zip drive-based storage unit is purely OPTIONAL.

2. The storage device will be using Zip as a "Base," meaning that the optional device may be a lot more than just a Zip drive...and a lot more money to buy than what Iomaniacs here think.

3. The Optional Zip-based storage device will not be available until March 2000.

4. The Optional Zip-based add-on will be for only storing files garnered off the web. No distribution of any games on Zip disks are planned by Sega or by anyone else.

5. Dreamcast is already being written off by Japanese and American game-afficienados and journalists as being DOA because of the upcoming Sony Playstation II.
