I CAN give an answer, and YES it does apply to investors in certain stocks, such as Sony and Honda and others incl. Softbank, which has amply rewarded its IPO investors. "Buy and Hold" investors of Japanese financial and cyclical stocks from 1989 have suffered huge losses, but more than a few Japanese stocks have appreciated considerably since the collapse of the bubble.
