<o.t.> Sam - thanks for the information. A@P has indeed garnered a reputation - and a following. I don't know the organization he mentioned, so I ve no opinion either way. If one chooses to help but don't know who and what, there are other alternatives:

1) major newspapers and TV stations in the major markets have good listings.

and

2) the usual suspects like [but not restricted to]

a) Doctors w/o Border
b) Red Cross
c) Oxfam USA [or of other countries]
d) Friends Society

[disclaimer and disclosure: I am not working for any of the above, but I do make contributions to all of the above]

p.s. Doctors w/o Border presumbly has the best bang for the buck, and that shows in its ability - or lack thereof - in ragtag fund raising arm.
